- What is FTP?
File Transfer Protocol is the file transfer protocol
that allows you to upload or download your web pages
or images from your computer to the server and vice
versa.
- Do I need to use any special programs for FTP?
Yes, you would need an ftp client like WS FTP to
upload or download files. You can normally use your
browser or command line for FTP, but we recommend
full featured FTP programs like WS FTP which is easy
to use and support more functions.
- What is the procedure for using FTP?
Given the vast number of FTP client software, we
can only give a rough guidance on what is the necessary
fields to fill up in an FTP program.

Some programs will ask you for the path required.
Do email support if you are not sure on this.
- I have uploaded my images but it appear as broken
links, what's the problem?
Image files like gif and jpg are binary files and
need to be uploaded in Binary. Whereas text files
like html and cgi scripts are Ascii and should be
uploaded in Ascii format.Uploading a cgi script in
binary may cause the cgi not to work.
- My firewall does not permit me to FTP to my domain
server, what should I do?
You can try changing the FTP mode from active to
passive mode.From the firewall’s point of view,
active mode is trying to initiate a connection with
your client looks like an intruder and is usually
blocked. Using passive mode usually solves the problem.

- Open WS FTP
- Select New
- Fill up the Fields, Profile name can be anything
for you to remember, the rest of the fields, fill
up with the information we provide.

Cute FTP
- Open Cute FTP
- Type in yourSite Profile or Identication name (can
be anything)

- Type in your domain name as the FTP URL

- Type in your ftp username and password assigned
by 8 to Infinity

- Type in Default Home Folder (the place where you
store the web files)
- You can leave the Default Remote Folder empty,
can navigate to the correct location later as advised
in our setup email.

- Click Next and You are Connecting!

Fetch FTP
- Launch the Fetch FTP client.
- Select "New Connection..." from the File
menu.
- Fill in the Host, User ID and Password field in
the New Connection dialog with the information provided
by 8 to infinity Pte Ltd and click the OK button to
connect to the FTP server.
Note: If you keep getting a "Can't open data
connection" in Fetch, try turning off passive
FTP transfer mode on your computer.
